This process is valid and permitted by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Do You Need to Cancel Road Tax?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the common reasons why vehicle owners choose to cancel their road tax:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Selling or transferring vehicle ownership<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changing insurance type or company<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vehicle No Longer in Use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>However, in most cases, road tax cancellation is done when someone wants to sell a vehicle. This is because cancelling the road tax is mandatory to enable the vehicle name change process at JPJ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc Key note: No refund can be given once the road tax has expired, and the refund amount must exceed RM5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Cancel Car Road Tax at JPJ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In accordance with the latest guidelines provided by JPJ Malaysia, the process for cancelling road tax is as follows:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide a copy of your identity card (original\/old car owner) and the original grant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the bank to collect the bank statement with the bank officer\u2019s confirmation stamp.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove your vehicle&#8217;s road tax.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring the car road tax, grant, copy of your identity card and bank statement to JPJ.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill out the road tax cancellation form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please inform the officer at the JPJ counter if you wish to request a refund of excess road tax. You need to fill out the JPJ K6 form to request a refund.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Get a Refund for a Cancelled Road Tax?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you know that you can claim a refund if there is a remaining valid period for your road tax?
